THE CHALLENGE WITH ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
Lack of unified regulation.
Organic skincare has no single global standard, different certifiers use different rules, which according to research confuses consumers, makes things harder for brands and allows misleading “green” claims. (Bozza et al., 2022; Riccolo, 2021; Vendruscolo & Bagatin, 2025;).
WHY A LABLE IS NO GUARANTEE OF "CLEAN BEAUTY"
An organic label does not mean a product is 100% organic or free from synthetic ingredients.
In fact, depending on the certifier, a formula may contain anywhere from 5% to 30% non-organic content.
THE QUESTION OF PRODUCT EFFICACY
Organic does not measure skincare product performance.
Organic certification only shows how ingredients are farmed, not how well a product works or how safe it is.
